Attorney Basil Hoyl Jr. of Hurst, TX; ethical leprechaun

The state of Texas presented Basil Landon Hoyl Jr. with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from South Texas University Law School.

The District 7-A Disciplinary Committee found Basil guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide any meaningful representation to assigned client
  • Failed to respond to client information requests
  • Failed to appear at client’s trial
  • Failed to respond to repeated client calls
  • Failed to keep client advised of status of legal matter

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Basil by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 18-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Basil.

As we speak (ca. March 2017), Basil practices at 421 Elmview in Hurst, Texas.
