Attorney Douglas Shaw of Hobart, IN; ethical gremlin

The state of Indiana provided Douglas Lawrence Shaw with a law license in 2006 after he graduated from the University of Indiana Law School.

The Indiana Disciplinary Commission found Doug guilty of the following misconduct.

• Engaged in sexual relationship with client
• Lent cleint $1,400 to pay her landlord at 10% interest
• Failed to advise client to seek advice of another attorney re: loan transaction

There was no indication as to what if any hourly fee Doug charged his female client for having sex with her. However, if he did it would give a new meaning to “screwing one’s client.”

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court punished Doug by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.  

As we speak (ca. October 2018) Doug practices with the Law office of Andrew Yoder at 8081 Randolph Street in Hobart, Indiana.
