The state of District of Columbia provided Essie F. Stevens with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Howard University Law School.

The D.C. Court of Appeals found Essie guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Essie failed to provide a writing setting forth the basis or rate of her fee while representing a client in an immigration matter.
