Attorney Daarina Phillips of Kenner, LA; deceptive loser

The state of Louisiana presented Daarina Haneefah Phillips with a law license in 2006 after she graduated from Loyola University Law School.

The Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board found Daarina guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to comply with bar membership requirements
  • Engaged in illegal practice of law while license suspended
  • Used false, misleading and/or deceptive firm name, logo, letterhead, professional designation, trade name or service mark
  • Failed to timely pay her Bar dues
  • Failed to timely pay disciplinary assessment
  • Failed to provide trust account information
  • Knowingly used the name “Phillips, Jones & Eichelberger, L.L.C., Attorneys and Counselors at Law” on her letterhead which is a violation of Rule 7.10 in that it is a false, misleading or deceptive firm name and a false, misleading or deceptive use of her letterhead

Daarina’s Hyperbolic (BS) Defense to Deceptive Letterhead

To defend against her deceptive use of the “Phillips, Jones & Eichelberger, L.L.C., Attorneys and Counselors at Law” on her letterhead, Daarina put for the following laughable testimony.

  • Daarina indicated that, though her letterhead suggests that she is a member of the firm “Phillips, Jones & Eichelberger, LLC, Attorneys
  • & Counselors at Law,” she is, in fact, a sole practitioner.
  • Daarina indicates that she chose this name for her office in 2007 when she filed her articles of incorporation. “That’s actually my last name and my parents’ last name, so.”
  • “But nobody in my office has the last names of Jones or Eichelberger.”
  • “Daarina clarified that Jones is her mother’s last name but indicates that her mother is not an attorney. She claims that Eichelberger refers to her late grandmother and that these are family names.”
  • “Daarina reiterates that she is a sole practitioner and that Rule 7.10 has not been violated being that the names listed on her letterhead are family names. “I am a Phillips; I am a Jones and I am an Eichelberger.”

In response to Daarina’s ridiculous defense, the Disciplinary Committee stated:

  • “Daarina’s defiant position does not render Rule 7.10 inapplicable.
  • “Further, her continued use of the name “Phillips, Jones & Eichelberger, LLC, Attorneys & Counselors at Law,” which is clearly visible on her letterhead, constitutes a willful violation of this Rule, [and] as such is a false, misleading, or deceptive firm name, logo, letterhead, professional designation, trade name, or service mark.”

Daarina’s laughable defense is akin to someone opening up a hamburger joint and naming it “Wendy’s” or “McDonald’s” because someone in his/her family had a niece whose name was Wendy or a daughter that married someone with the last name McDonald.

Clearly, Daarina missed her calling as a Standup Comedian.

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Daarina by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2017) Daarina practices at 3901 Williams Blvd in Kenner, Louisiana.
