Attorney Jorge Sorote of New York City; thief, serial offender

The state of New York presented Jorge Sorote with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from the Seton Hall University Law School.

The Departmental Disciplinary Committee found Jorge guilty of the following misconduct.

Prior to the disciplinary actions set forth below, Jorge received four (4) complimentary admonishments for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

• Failed to refund unearned retainer (thief)
• Neglected several cleint matters
• Failed to satisfy two judgments against him
• Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Jorge!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Departmental Disciplinary Committee punished Jorge by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

Jorge’s 6^th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Neglected legal matter entrusted to him
• Failed to appear for two scheduled compliance conferences
• Failed to provide discovery as ordered by trial court
• Failure to engage in court-ordered discovery led to dismissal of client’s case
• Failed to adequately prepare re: client representation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Departmental Disciplinary Committee punished Jorge by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.
