Attorney Michael Cancilla of Utica, NY; convicted tax cheat

The state of New York presented Michael Joseph Cancilla with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from Syracuse University Law School.

The Departmental Disciplinary Committee found Mike guilty of the following misconduct.

• Convicted of criminal tax fraud in the fifth degree
• Convicted of offering false instrument for filing in the second degree
• Filed tax returns late that contained false statements or information
• Ordered to pay $76,000 in back taxes

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Departmental Disciplinary Committee punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2017), Mike practices with the Law Offices of Michael J. Cancilla at 3 Hopper Street in Utica, New York.
