Judge Peter Mack Jr. of New Bern, NC; Judge Roy Bean Wannabee
FYI: Judge Roy Bean was an infamous Justice of the Peace and saloon owner in Texas who called himself the "The Law West of the Pecos." Roy was also affectionately referred to as the Hanging Judge.
The state of North Carolina presented Peter Mack Jr. with a law license in 1991 after he graduated from North Carolina Central University Law School.
Former Gov. Mike Easley was duped into appointing Pete as a judge on the 3B Judicial District Judge in New Bern in 2003. Pete didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater New Bern area. He received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.
The North Carolina Judicial Standards Commission on Judicial Performance found Pete guilty of the following misconduct.
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court punished Pete by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. January 2017), Pete continues to sit as a District Court Judge in New Bern, North Carolina. |
