Judge James E. Martin of Greenville, NC; scofflaw, ethically impotent

Unfortunately for the good citizens of the greater Greenville, the North Carolina area, the North Carolina Supreme Court made a monumental error in judgment when it provided Judge James E. Martin with a law license in 1975.

In the past, Judge James Martin was charged with a variety of ethical misconduct by the North Carolina Judicial Commission, some of which is as follows:
  1. Initiated a series of ex parte communications with law enforcement concerning the son of a friend who’d been arrested for felonious breaking and entering
  2. Also initiated ex parte communications with a police officer regarding an auto accident that resulted in charges being filed against the driver in which the daughter of a friend was a passenger
  3. Lied to an officer by telling him that an auto accident was civil, not criminal, and that if the case came before him in court, he would so rule, and then suggested to the officer that he reconsider his assessment of fault
Prior to this misconduct, Judge Martin was previously censured by the Supreme Court for egregious misconduct.

The enablers and apologists on the North Carolina Supreme Court punished Judge James E. Martin in regards to his second bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree by gifting him with yet another complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. May 2011) this certified loser continues to sit on the bench in Greenville, North Carolina. This only again proves that Judicial Misfits are held to a lower standard of conduct than we are!
