Don “Trumporleone” Trump says revoke Flag Burners citizenship

During a recent (ca. late Nov 2016) Twitter rant, Donald “Trumporleone” Trump declared that Flag Burners should have their citizenship revoked and/or imprisoned for such conduct. In a never-ending effort to appease his alt-right supporters, The Don sent out the following Tweet.  

“Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag - if they do, there must be consequences - perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail.”

It’s obvious that The Don is totally ignorant of the meaning of the 1^st Amendment to the Constitution because if he was he would know that burning a flag is protected speech. This issue was settled in 1989 by the U.S. Supreme Court in a case titled Texas v. Johnson. In fact, Justice Scalia who The Don praises all the time, voted that burning the flag was protected speech.

Now that The Don can nominate future Supreme Court justices, all he needs to do is get a couple of right-wing ideologues in the mold of Justices Sammy Alito and Clarence Thomas and then have the Texas v. Johnson ruling overturned.

Won’t we all be a lot better off with a Supreme Court packed with right-wingers willing to make it a crime to burn a flag or defame a President?

Who knows, maybe we’d get lucky and a right-wing Supreme Court could vote to make serial lying a felony.
