Trump’s 3^rd victim of Draining the Swamp: GOP megadonor Betsy DeVos

In late November 2016, Donald “Trumporleone” Trump kept good on his promise to “drain the swamp” by nominating anti-public education and public school privatization billionaire and well known “swamp dweller” Betsy DeVos to be the next Secretary of Education.

Betsy had dedicated her life to supporting the eradication of public schools and the unionized teachers employed therein. Per Betsy’s fevered mind, providing taxpayer funded vouchers allowing parents to send their children to religious run schools is the way to go.

Put simply, Betsy believes that Catholic taxpayers should be billed to support Baptist, Mormon or Methodist Schools and/or vice versa.  She also finds it acceptable to force agnostics to pay taxes to support all religious schools throughout the country.

It goes without saying that one of the GOP’s primary goals is to destroy public sector teacher unions. Once all the unions in the U.S. of A. are destroyed, then GOP megadonors like Betsy won’t have to spend as much to purchase the services of elected officials since Unions will be out of the campaign donor business.

I sent all my daughters to Catholic schools in Toledo, Ohio while at the same time I was required to pay several thousand dollars each year in property taxes to support public schools in the Lucas County area. I didn’t mind this because I chose to send my children to a religious school. However, I don’t believe that non-Catholics should be taxed to support Catholic schools, which is exactly what Betsy and those of her ilk wish to force upon us.
