Judge Mark Chow of Seattle; certified nutcase and ethical elf

Unfortunately for the good folks of Seattle, Judge Mark Chow has been on bench for the past 21 years.

Judge Chow has dedicated the lion’s share of his so-called legal career chowin-down at the public trough. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the Seattle area was about to offer this loser a well-paying job. Can ya blame them?

In the past, the Judicial Commission charged and subsequently found Chow guilty of failing to maintain courtroom decorum (What decorum are they talking about?); making comments from the bench that were undignified, discourteous and disrespectful (And you’re point is?); and using language that was manifestly biased or prejudiced.

In a lame effort at levity, the Commission had the chutzpah to claim that Chow’s conduct diminished the public’s confidence in the dignity and impartiality of the judiciary. These folks obviously missed their calling as standup comedians!

Chow’s Salty Comments

While presiding over the jail courtroom, a defendant told Chow to “suck my dick,” which caused him to say, “I would if you pulled it out but you can’t find it.”

On the same day, while presiding over Mental Health Court, Chow asked a female defendant, “What flavor are you?”. When the defendant said she was half Japanese, Chow asked, “No Chinese?” See I’m Chinese.”

After she confirmed to Chow that she was not Chinese, he said, “That’s okay, My wife’s Japanese, you’ve got some good.”

When another female defendant appeared the next day, Chow said that “I think I know what flavor you are so I’m not even going to ask.”

As punishment for his misconduct, the enablers on the Judicial Commission gifted Chow by presenting him with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. March 2011) this loser remains on the bench in Seattle. Apparently, Judge Chow’s application for a job as a greeter at Sams Club located at 13550 Aurora Avenue in Seattle didn’t bear any fruit.

Of course Chow could always opt to enroll at the ABC Bartending School in Seattle, right?
