Judge Angel Underwood of Chester, SC; ethical dwarf

In 2011, the judicial hacks in Chester County voted to appoint Angel as a Chester County Magistrate Judge. Angel didn’t get the appointment because was the most qualified person in the Chester County area. She received it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Angel guilty of the following misconduct.

• Angel handled over 100 cases involving traffic citations, warrants and bond hearings involving the Chester County Sheriff’s Department
• While handling the cases mentioned above, Angel’s husband was the Sheriff of Chester County
• Failed to disqualify herself from cases when mandated to do so
• Knowingly violated the Code of Judicial Conduct

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Judicial Misfits sitting on the South Carolina Supreme punished Gerry by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 6-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. November 2016) Angel continues to sit as a Chester County Magisterial Court judge in Chester, South Carolina.
