Barrister John Holmes of New Zealand; ethical gremlin

The Law Society of New Zealand presented John Robin Holmes with a law license in 1969.

The found New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal found Johnny guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in unsatisfactory conduct
  • Improperly deducted $1,700 as fees from dormant cleint accounts
  • Created seven false pro forma invoices purporting additional work
  • Failed to advise clients of balances in their trust accounts
  • Failed to properly account for client funds
  • Engaged in reckless conduct

As a consequence of his misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Zealand Disciplinary Tribunal punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary censure and a $5,000 fine.

As we speak (ca. August 2016), Johnny practices with HAD Lawyers Limited at 4a Georgina Street in Freemans Bay, Auckland, New Zealand.
