Attorney Nicholas Avis of Newfoundland, CAN; ethical misfit

The Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador presented Nicholas J.G. Avis with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from Dalhousie University Law School.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Disciplinary Committee found Nicky guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to comply with rules of conduct
• Failed in his duty to his clients
• Failed to avoid conflict of interest between clients
• Failed to act with impartiality

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Upper Law Society Committee punished Nicky by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand. 

As we speak (ca. October 2016), Nicky practices with Browne Fitzgerald Morgan & Avis at Terrace on the Square in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada.
