Attorney Howard Burns of San Diego; writing rubber checks

The state of California provided Howard F. Burns with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from the University of San Diego Law School.

The California State Bar Court found Howie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Used client trust account funds to pay personal bills
  • Issued 13 checks against insufficient funds (rubber)
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Howie!)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished Ira by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 36-day suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Bar Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Howie.

Because Attorney Misfits in California are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Howie was never criminally charged for writing bad checks.

As we speak (ca. October 2016) Howie practices with the Law Offices of Howard F. Burns at 8880 Rio San Diego Drive in San Diego, California.
