Former DA Stuart Dunnings III of Lansing, MI; convicted loser

The state of Michigan presented Stuart Dunnings III with a law license in 1980.

Stu’s misconduct took place while he was the elected Ingham County prosecutor, a position he held for nearly 20 years.

In one matter, Stu was arrested and charged with 15 crimes, one of which was a felony relating to allegations that he had hired prostitutes “hundreds of times.” One of the most serious charges is the felony charge of prostitution-pandering, which related to Stu’s use of his official prosecutorial position to coerce a woman to sleep with him for money.

The woman said that she sought Stu’s assistance with a child custody case. This then led to Stu taking advantage of official role and coercing her into having sex with him. She said she was shocked at first but eventually agreed because she felt as though she had no choice. The sexual relationship lasted for over a year. Stu paid the lady $600 every two weeks during the time they were meeting for sex, and he also gave her gifts and paid some of her bills.

As one would suspect, it didn’t take long before Stu copped a plea and pled guilty to misconduct in office, a felony that could end up with him spending five years in prison.

All that remains now is to see how long Stu’s prison sentence is going to be. Hopefully, the sentencing judge will order that Stu be incarcerated at the Saginaw Correctional Facility in Freeland, Michigan. The judge should further order that he be assigned to Cell No. 117 so that he’ll be bunked up with Clarice (real name Clarence) who is rumored to be one of the friendliest guys in the joint.
