In one matter, Judge Stacey found it acceptable to violate the Code of Judicial Conduct by issuing an ex parte (one-sided) order that continued for dismissal a traffic ticket that had been issued to the husband of a court clerk. In order to conceal the conduct from public view, Judge Stacey entered the order in chambers rather than in open court.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Rex by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

In one matter, Judge Stacey was assigned to preside over a divorce case. During the trial on the matter, Stacey asked one of the parties argumentative and sarcastic questions.
During an attorney’s cross-examination of a party to the divorce matter, as the attorney was part way into his next question, Stacey interjected: “I’ll be right back. Just continue without me.” He then got up and walked out of the courtroom. After he returned to the courtroom, he stated, “I’ve never done that before. It felt good.”
Judge Stacey then directed the courtroom clerk to give him another file and then told the parties and attorneys at the ongoing hearing:

In one matter involving a mother seeking a protective order, Judge Stacey made the following misogynistic statements to the mother in open court.
Stacey made the above biased and misogynistic statements even though there was absolutely no evidence before him that the children were afraid of the mother.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Rex by gifting him with a second complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. August 2016), Judge Stacey continues to sit as a Scoot County District Court judge in Shakopee, Minnesota. |
