Attorney Mark Fischer of Steamboat Springs, CO; thief, repeat offender

The state of Colorado provided Joseph A. Fattor with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from the University of Denver Law School.

The Colorado State Bar found Mark guilty of the following misconduct.

Mark’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Knowingly converted (stole) funds belonging to third party
• Failed to hold proceeds of sale of marital property separate from his own property
• Failed to keep disputed funds separate until court resolved dispute
• Commingled client funds with personal funds
• Knowingly disobeyed a court order

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Mark by ordering that he be disbarred. However, several years later the comedians sitting on the Court voted to reinstate Mark’s law license.

Mark’s 2^nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Improperly provided financial assistance to client
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
• Failed to adequately communicate with client
• Negligently failed to notify client of motion filed by adversary

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Mark by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.
