Attorney J. Michael Edney of Hendersonville, NC; thief, repeat offender

The state of North Carolina presented J. Michael Edney with a law license in 1985 after she graduated from Wake Forest University Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Mike guilty of the following misconduct.

Mike’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to file petition with state Supreme Court as promised
• Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Mike!)
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to explain matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit client to make an informed decision regarding the representation
• Accepted money from client w/o seeking to be removed as appointed counsel
• Collected an illegal fee (thief)

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

Mike’s 2^nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Mike!)
• Misconduct involved multiple offenses
• Failed to participate in good faith in mandatory fee arbitration
• Engaged in a pattern of misconduct

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. July 2015) Mike practices at 1509 Haywood Road in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
