Solicitor Claire Flood of Chelmsford, UK; ethical misfit 

 

The Law Society presented with Claire Eugenie Flood with a law license in 1998. 

 

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found Claire guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Withdrew funds from client account on general client ledgers when no money was being held on behalf of that client
  • Failed to timely remedy breaches of rules upon discovery of same
  • Failed to keep proper accounting records
  • Failed to conduct required client account reconciliations
  • Engaged in serious breaches of the rules over long period of time
  • Conduct involved a lack of integrity

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Solicitor Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Tribunal punished Claire by gifting her with a complimentary £10,000 ($11,055) fine and ordered that he pay £13,000 ($14,368) in costs.
