Attorney Katherine Pekman of Hickory, NC; thieving slacker

The state of North Carolina provided Katherine Heath Pekman with a law license in 2011 after she graduated from Wake University Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar has charged Kathy with engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to communicate with client
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to return unearned fees (thief)
• Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Kathy!)

As a consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Kathy by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 3-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Kathy.
