Attorney Karolee Zawislak of Saskatchewan, CAN: serial offender   

 

The Law Society of Saskatchewan presented Karolee Ann Zawislak was presented with a law license in 1986 after she graduated from York University Law School.

 

The Law Society of Saskatchewan found Karolee guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Karolee’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Co-authored inappropriate letter
  • Filed misleading affidavit that was singed in blank

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society Board punished Karolee by gifting her with a complimentary 2- week suspension of her law license.

 

Karolee’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to engage in due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to pay accounts incurred by law practice
  • Engaged in trust accounting rule breaches

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society Board punished Karolee by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Karolee’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Prepared will for client dying in a hospice that left $10,000 to his son
  • Failed to ensure storage fees housing client files was paid
  • Allowed client’s personal information to be placed at risk
  • Failed in duty to deal with client files and property in prudent manner
  • Required to pay $7,500 as insurance deductible re: malpractice claim and agreed to pay installments of $625 per month
  • First check of $625 paid to insurer returned for insufficient funds (rubber)
  • Repeatedly failed to respond to client inquires
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society Board punished Karolee by gifting her with a complimentary 6-month suspension of her law license.

 

As we speak (ca. July 2013), Karolee practices with the Merchant Law Group LLP at 2401 Saskatchewan Drive in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
