Attorney Ian Reith of British Columbia, CAN; ethical gremlin

The Law Society of British Columbia presented Ian D. Reith with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from the University of Victoria Law School.

The Law Society of British Columbia found Ian guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to discuss change in counsel with two vendors or the purchaser of shares
  • Engaged in a glaring conflict of interest
  • Failed to explain to client nature of his retainer
  • Failed to advise clients tasks he would perform for them
  • Failed to inform clients what fees he would charge them
  • Failed to advise clients he was taking an extended vacation
  • Prepared client adjustment statements that were incomplete and inaccurate

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Upper Law Society Committee punished Ian by gifting him with a complimentary $7,500 fine.

As we speak (ca. July 2015), Ian practices at 7244 Fitzsimmons Road in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.
