Judge J. Bryant Durham Jr. of Rome, GA; moronic loser

The state of Georgia presented J. Bryant Durham Jr. with a law license in 1968 after he graduated from Emory University of Georgia Law School.

Former Gov. Sonny Perdue was duped into appointing J. Bryant as a Rome Judicial Circuit Court judge in 2003. J. Bryant didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the Floyd County area. He received it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

The Georgia State Judicial Ethics Agency is investigating Judge Durham for engaging in the following misconduct.

In one matter, J. Bryant presided over a case involving Denver Fenton Allen who was charged with murder. At a hearing, Mr. Allen wanted Judge Durham to appoint a new lawyer for him. Allen claimed that his current lawyer demanded sexual favors from him in exchange for discovery evidence.

During the hearing, Allen told Judge Durham that he would kill his entire family, including his children. Durham replied by saying, “I don’t have children.” Allen responded by saying he would kill his grandchildren. This led to Judge Durham yelling:

“How can I have grandkids if I don’t have any kids! Stupid!”

The following back and forth then took place between Judge Durham and Mr. Allen.

JUDGE: “I am finding you in contempt of court.”

ALLEN: “I don’t care.”

JUDGE: “I know you don’t. And I sentence you to twenty days for that. And if you say anything else, I’m going to add twenty days for everything you say.”

ALLEN: “Fuck you.”

JUDGE: “Forty days.”

ALLEN: “Fuck you again.”

JUDGE: “Sixty.”

ALLEN: “Go fuck yourself.”

JUDGE: “A year.”

ALLEN: “Your mama.”

JUDGE: “Ten years.”

ALLEN: “Suck my dick.”

JUDGE: “You know something; this is going to be an interesting trial.”

After Allen making the aforementioned statements to the court, and saying he preferred “white-white boys,” Judge Durham said:

  • “Oh, of course. You know, you look like a queer.”
  • “You’re so cute. I know all the inmates just love you to death.”

After this comment, Durham and Allen continued as follows:

JUDGE: “You know what, I have a constitutional right to be a dumbass.”

ALLEN: “How about this? I’ll kill your whole family. When I get in this trial, I will murder your whole family. I’ll cut your children up into pieces. I’ll knock their brains out with a fucking hammer and feed them to you.”

JUDGE: “I’ve enjoyed this. I hope you have. I know everybody else in the courtroom has enjoyed it, but you can go now.”

What kind of Moron (my apologies to Morons) gets into an idiotic argument with a criminal defendant as is the case with Judge Durham? When Durham told Allen he had a right to be a dumbass, he may as well have said:

“You know what, as a Judge I have a constitutional right to be a dumbass.”

All that’s left now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Judge Durham by the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Georgia Supreme Court.

As we speak (ca. July 2016) Durham continues to sit as a Rome Judicial Circuit Court judge in Rome, Georgia.
