Judge Christine Moruza of Oakland, CA; arrogant loser, ethical leper-con   Unfortunately for the residents of greater Oakland, California (Alameda County), Judge Christine Moruza was appointed as a Superior Court Judge in 1997.
When indigent (poor) defendants appeared before Judge Moruza and were represented by public defenders, she would immediately go into her arrogance mode by demeaning them by engaging in the following discussion with them.
Comments to Defendant Finley
Moruza: “Well, are you paying her?”
Defendant: “No.”
Moruza: “You get what you pay for. If you want really good service, then you pay an attorney $10,000 to do this.” [Hey Christine, how about telling the taxpayers what they’re getting
Comments to Public Defender Elizabeth Campos
 Moruza: “I understand your clients were on time, but those who have attorneys that they’re paying go first and those who have a free attorney go second and it’s just the way it works here.”
Campos: “Right. Your Honor, I would disrespectfully, I’m sorry I mean respectfully object but I don’t understand.”
Moruza: Sure, you would. That’s just the way it’s run here. You get what you pay for. You’re paying nothing here.”
Other disrespectful comments made by Judge Moruza
On numerous occasions, Moruza the Loser found it acceptable to make the following comments in open court.
Domestic Violence Case
Told counsel that when she tried to slap her husband, that he had been quicker and slapped her back, and that she never tried to slap him again. Can ya blame him?
Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon Case
Victim was a deputy sheriff who was having an affair with a neighbor who was also employed by the sheriff’s department. The deputy also had sex with this woman’s 16-year-old daughter, and was prosecuted for statutory rape. The defendant was the husband of the woman and the father of the 16-year-old.
After reducing the felony to a misdemeanor and in defense of her action, Judge Moruza said,
“The Court feels there was almost every excuse for the defendant’s behavior in this offense.”
“And frankly, this Court understands perfectly why he did what he did. Unfortunately we have the system of criminal justice that you’re not allowed to do that [beat someone with a ball bat] anymore. Some people would say our system of criminal justice is immoral because of that.”
Murder Case
The defendant was charged with bludgeoning a woman to death. At a hearing, a number of the victim’s friends and family were in attendance, wearing red T-shirts with the victim’s picture on the front. As they left the courtroom, one of them turned in the direction of Judge Moruza and said, “Another wasted day.” Moruza then acted as follows:
She ordered the woman to stand before her at the bench and then the following commentary took place.
Moruza: “Did you graduate from high school”?
Victim: Yes.
Moruza: “Did you take any civics classes?”
Victim: No. (She should have asked Moruza, “Did you take any ethics classes?”
Moruza: “That’s why you’re ignorant."
Moruza then had the chutzpah to order the woman to apologize to the court, which she did.
As a consequence of her deplorable misconduct, the enablers and apologists sitting on the Judicial Commission and the California Surpeme Court punished the Dishonorable Christine Moruza by gifting here with a complimentary admonisment.
As we speak (ca. June 2011) this Moruza the Moronic Loser and ethical leper-con remains sitting on the bench in Oakland, California. What an unmitigated joke!
