Judge Olu Stevens of Louisville; ethical gremlin

The state of Kentucky presented Olu Alfredo Stevens with a law license in 2013 after he graduated from George Washington University Law School.

The Kentucky Judicial Commission found Olu guilty of the following misconduct.

Olu, an African-American judge became embroiled in a racially charged feud with Commonwealth Attorney Thomas Wine a white prosecutor who Olu claimed was a racist. The problem began when Olu dismissed a jury panel because he claimed it did not represent a cross-section of the community.

Subsequently, Mr. Wine asked the Kentucky Supreme Court to determine if Olu had the legal authority to dismiss the jury. Olu responded by to Facebook wherein he questioned Wine’s motives for the Supreme Court filing by stating there was “something more sinister” that motivated Wine and that Wine “will live in infamy.”

Olu repeated his defamatory comments about Mr. Wine during a presentation at a Louisville Bar Association meeting.

While the Kentucky Supreme Court determines what if any punishment to mete out to Olu, he has agreed to a temporary suspension from the bench “with pay.” In truth, this is nothing than a undeserved paid vacation at taxpayer expense.

In an obvious attempt to further prove that he’s a total loser, Olu filed a legal action against the Judicial Commission claiming it has violated his First Amendment fee speech rights. He has asked the federal court to prohibit the commission from punishing him. This is a useless exercise since it has not worked for a myriad of Judicial Misfits over the years. However, the taxpayers will now be required to pay for the cost of defending Olu’s sham lawsuit.

As we speak (ca. April 2016), Olu remains on a taxpayer funded vacation of about $3,000 a week. Isn’t Kentucky a great country?
