Attorney Alan Simon of West Nyack, NY; Judge Roy Bean Wannabee

FYI: Judge Roy Bean was an infamous Justice of the Peace and saloon owner in Texas who called himself the "The Law West of the Pecos." Roy was also affectionately referred to as the Hanging Judge.

The state of New York presented Alan Michael Simon with a law license in 1968 after he graduated from the Brooklyn School of Law.

The New York Commission on Judicial Conduct found Alan guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed Justice of the Spring Valley Village Court and the Ramapo Town Court,  in Rockland County.

• Threatened to hold student working in Spring Vale court clerk’s office in contempt
• Threatened various Village employees with contempt
• Threatened to arrest student with no lawful basis
• Grabbed students arm
• Imposed monetary sanctions against legal services agency without basis or legal authority to so act
• Was discourteous to legal service agency attorneys
• Repeatedly threatened to hold various individuals in contempt without any basis or lawful authority to so act
• Engaged in rude behavior to Village officials and employees
• Lacks fitness to serve as a judge
• Failed to acknowledge wrongful nature of his conduct
• Improperly interjected himself into judicial election

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Judicial Commission punished Alan by ordering his removal from the bench.
