Judge Gregory Hayes of Hickory, NC; dimwitted scofflaw

FYI: Greg has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for thirty-four (34) years. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Hickory area was about to offer him a good paying job.

The state of North Carolina presented James F. Ammons Jr. with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from Wake Forest University Law School.

The North Carolina Judicial Standards Commission on Judicial Performance found Greg guilty of the following misconduct

• Failed to personally observe appropriate standards of conduct
• Failed to ensure that the integrity and independence of the judiciary was preserved
• Failed to respect and comply with the law (scofflaw)
• Failed to act in manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary
• Improperly lent the prestige of his judicial office to advance the private interests of other
• Failed to main professional competence in the law (dimwit)
• Engaged in improperly ex parte (one-sided) communications
• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Engaged in conduct bring his judicial office into disrepute
• Contacted Judge Lyerly via three voicemail messages in an improper attempt to request that charges against a friend be dismissed and/or reduced

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court punished Greg by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. January 2023), Greg continues to dispense his so-called idea of jurisprudence as a Superior Court judge in Hickory, North Carolina.
