Judge Martha Sassone of Gretna, LA; Judge Roy Bean Wannabee

FYI: Judge Roy Bean was an infamous Justice of the Peace and saloon owner in Texas who called himself the "The Law West of the Pecos." Roy was also affectionately referred to as the Hanging Judge.

The state of Louisiana provided Martha E. Sassone with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from Northwestern University Law School.

The Judiciary Commission of Lousiana found Martha guilty of the following misconduct.

• Abused her judicial authority
• Exceeded lawful authority re: contempt proceedings
• Less then forthcoming in testimony before ethics panel
• Acted in contravention of Lousiana law
• Engaged in persistent conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Engaged in a pattern of committing legal error (moron)
• Failed to acknowledge wrongful nature of her conduct
• Failed to comply with law in revoking defendant’s bail
• Engaged in a pattern of abusing contempt powers
• Found defendant in contempt w/o just cause

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Martha’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. She previously received a complimentary admonition for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Martha by gifting her with a complimentary 60-day suspension from the bench.

As we speak (ca. April 2016) Martha continues to sit as a 24^th Judicial District Court Judge in Gretna, Louisiana.
