US attorney Stephen Kunz of Tallahassee; ethical dwarf

Unfortunately, assistant US attorney Stephen Kunz has been allowed to remain on the government dole as a prosecuting attorney in Fort Lauderdale despite being found guilty of egregious misconduct by the Florida State Bar.

As a result his unwarranted, highly unethical and punitive pursuit of criminal charges against Steven and Marlene Aisenberg regarding their missing daughter Sabrina who was 5 months in November 1997, Stephen Kunz was found guilty of misconduct by the Florida State Bar in 2005. However, our so called Justice Department found it fit to conceal this fact from the public until it was revealed in a Dec 10, 2010 USA story written by Brad and Kevin McCoy.

The Florida Bar concluded in its findings that Kunz had recklessly tried to inflame the grand jury against the Aisenbergs and included unreliable [sham] excerpts from various recordings in an indictment against them. (USA Today)

As a result of his despicable conduct, Kunz’s bosses at the US Attorney’s Office in Tampa stripped him of his position as a supervisor; however, he was eventually reassigned to the civil division before he subsequently quit.

Unbelievably, this certified ethical leper-con was eventually hired by the US Attorney’s office in Tallahassee in 2003 and assigned to criminal cases. In fact, this is presently sitting as the “Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney” overseeing criminal cases.

The most disturbing aspect of this case is the fact that the government eventually was forced to pay the Aisenbergs $1.5 million under a law known as the Hyde Amendment, which requires the government to compensate people of the charges against them were “vexatious.” The likely cost to the taxpayers as a result of Kunz’s despicable conduct was well in excess of $2.5 million.
