Barrister David Cox of Auckland, NZ; ethical misfit

The Law Society of New Zealand presented David John Cox with a law license in 1977.

The New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal found Dave guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to advise solicitor of deductions in settlement for his fees
• Failed to inform interested parties that his fees should be less given the change in circumstances of the pending matter

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Tribunal punished Dave by gifting him with a complimentary censure and a $7,500 fine.
