Attorney Thomas Veach of Marietta, GA; ethical ogre

The state of Georgia presented Thomas William Veach with a law license in 1984 after he graduated from the Woodrow Wilson College of Law.

The State Bar of Georgia found Tommy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Acted with a dishonest or selfish motive
  • In representing an estate, Tommy was aware that it had but one asset that was encumbered by
  • a Medicaid lien
  • The estate sold the asset for $109,000 and Tommy deposited the funds in his IOLTA account
  • Failed to disburse $27,443,23 owed regarding the Medicaid lien after a settlement was reached as to the disbursement of the $109,000
  • The reason Tommy was unable to pay the Medicaid lien is because he had been removing estate funds from his IOLTA account without the authorization of the executor
  • Subsequently, Tommy was held in contempt of court for his failure to pay the amounts due to the lienholder
  • Acted with a dishonest or selfish motive

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Georgia Supreme Court punished Tommy by gifting hi, with a complimentary 18-month suspension of his law license effective November 2020.

As we speak (ca. May 2021) Tommy will resume his brand of law at 1732 Cedar Drive in Marietta, Georgia in April 2022.
