When will Judge Stephen Yarbrough pay back taxpayer funds he pilfered over the years?
In January 2001, I personally published a voluminous, spiral-bound document that proved beyond all doubt that Judge Stephen Yarbrough had repeatedly billed two counties for meals, lodging and/or mileage on the same day. The evidence also proved that on at least 21 occasions he billed two counties for 8.0 hours of work on the same day.
Put simply, it cannot be disputed that Judge Stephen Yarbrough has had his unclean hands permanently implanted in the taxpayer’s “cookie jar” for the last fifteen (15) years.
This spiral-bound document which contained copies of Yarbrough’s handwritten expense and wage reports was provided to the Ohio Supreme Court and was available to Judge Stephen Yarbrough. In fact, it is my understanding that he was provided with a copy of it sometime in late January or early February of 2001.
Over eleven (11) years have passed since irrefutable documentary evidence was published proving that Judge Stephen Yarbrough had consistently bilked Franklin, Montgomery, Mahoning and Hamilton counties out of thousands of dollars via his submission of fabricated wage sheets and/or travel expenses.
I firmly believe that had some lower level state or county employee had engaged in this same type of egregious theft, that he or she would have been subjected to hearing the words “you have the right to remain silent.”
In some instances the amounts that Judge Yarbrough stole from the taxpayers was only $6.00; however he continues to refuse to reimburse these ill-gotten gains.
Judge Stephen Yarbrough now asks the voters of Northwest, Ohio to elect him as an appellate judge on the 6th District Court of Appeals.
I for one am offended that Judge Yarbrough would have the chutzpah to even seek such an office. As a lifelong Republican (ca. 1965-2010) I am even more offended by a Republican Party that would unabashedly support someone of his ilk.
When will Jon Stainbrook, chairman of the Lucas County demand that Judge Stephen Yarbrough repay the taxpayer funds he so cheerfully bilked over the past twelve years?
With all due respect Mr. Stainbrook, party politics should have absolutely nothing to do with assuring that the good citizens of Northwest Ohio are served by a competent, unbiased and ethical judge on the 6th District Court of Appeals. The time to put aside petty politics and do what’s right for the voters of Northwest Ohio and particularly Toledo is now Jon!
