Judge Stephen Yarbrough of Toledo Pleads Religion to Avoid Deposition

Judge Stephen Yarbrough is well known among his peers and more importantly his “sea of victims” in Ohio as a thoroughly unethical judge who has dedicated his legal career to the total avoidance of propriety.

In late February 2002, Yarbrough was notified via a filing in the Court of Claims to appear for a deposition on March 14, 2002 in Case No. 2001-10344. This case was filed by Chuck Evans against the Ohio Supreme Court for negligence in continuing to appoint Judge Yarbrough to cases even though overwhelming evidence proved he was engaged in egregious misconduct.

In an attempt to avoid being deposed by Mr. Evans, Judge Yarbrough filed a motion for a protective order. In that motion Yarbrough laughingly stated he would not be available to testify on March 28 or March 29, 2002 because of his “personal observance” of “Holy Thursday” and “Good Friday.”

Judge Yarbrough’s claims of being a “devout Catholic” who religiously avoided any work on “Good Thursday” or “Good Friday” is proven to be patently false by the fact that he billed the State of Ohio and various counties for work on the following days. In fact, Yarbrough’s conduct was nothing more than a “fraud upon the court,” a fact he well knew when he intentionally lied to the Court.

After reviewing the facts below, all of which were obtained from a review of Yarbrough’s handwritten compensation reports, I believe you will conclude that his claim of being a devout Catholic is pure bunk. In fact, Yarbrough is a total embarrassment to the legacy of Elmer Gantry and/or the Right Reverend Jimmy Swaggart.

And lastly, Yarbrough has the chutzpah to ask the voters of Northwest, Ohio, which includes the Toledo area to elect him to the 6th District Court of Appeals on November 2, 2010. If Yarbrough possessed one ounce of integrity, he would immediately withdraw his name from consideration in the upcoming election.
