Attorney Leon Thurman of Abilene, TX; ethical gremlin

The state of Texas presented Leon A. Thurman with a law license in 1969 after he graduated from Baylor University Law School.

The District 14 Grievance Committee found Leon guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to respond to client’s reasonable requests for information
  • Failed to keep client reasonably informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to explain child custody matter to extent reasonable necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
  • Engaged in illegal practice of law while license suspended
  • Failed to comply with minimum continuing legal education requirements

As a consequence of his misconduct the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Leon by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 6-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t actually mete out any meaningful punishment to Mike.

As we speak (ca. April 2016) Leon practices with Britt Thurman at 317 Sycamore Street in Abilene, Texas.
