Attorney Payam Shayani of Los Angeles; convicted loser

The state of California provided Payam Mark Shayani with a law license in 2000 after he graduated from the University of Texas Law School.

The California State Bar Court found Payam guilty of the following misconduct.

• Pled guilty to failing to withhold state income tax for employee
• Found guilty of failing to secure worker’s compensation insurance for employees
• Pled guilty to advertising himself as a doctor although he is not licensed as a physician

Payam also maintained a Web site, www.obesitylawyer.com, offering legal services only, wherein he described himself as both a lawyer and “a medical doctor with surgical training.” In addition, Payam also represented himself as both a lawyer and a doctor in letters, retainer agreements, medical liens and a variety of submissions to the California Secretary of State and the State

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished Payam by gifting him with a complimentary 45-day suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Bar Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Payam.
