Attorney James Runyon of Tomahawk, WI; serial offender

The state of Wisconsin presented James T. Runyon with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Wrote a series of bad checks on trust account
  • Failed to hold funds in trust as required
  • Deposited personal funds to correct shortfalls in trust account
  • Failed to maintain accurate and complete trust account records
  • Failed to maintain transaction register

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Jimmy’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license and a complimentary reprimand for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. December 2015), Jimmy practices with the Runyon Law Offices LLC at 1414 North Fourth Street in Tomahawk, Wisconsin.
