Attorney Stuart Schlem of Freehold, NJ; ethical gremlin

The state of New Jersey presented Stuart P. Schlem with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Stu guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to safeguard client property
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Engaged in gross neglect of client matters
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Failed to advise client that appeal had been dismissed

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Stu by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. December 2015) Stu practices in Freehold, New Jersey.
