Attorney Philip Mears of Iowa City; repeat offender

The state of Iowa presented Philip Boswell Mears with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from the University of Iowa Law School.

The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board found Phil guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to him
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Phil’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. She previously received three (3) complimentary admonitions for engaging in a variety of misconduct

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Phil by gifting him with a second complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. January 2016), Phil practices with the Mears Law Office at 209 East Washington Street in Iowa City, Iowa.
