Judge Michael LaBeau of Monroe, MI, enabler for crooked lawyers, idiot

Unfortunately for the citizens of Monroe, Michigan, Judge Michael LaBeau has been sitting on the bench for over twenty years.

In one case involving Toledo, Ohio attorney E. J. Leizerman, Judge LaBeau proved beyond all doubt that he is a die-in-the-wool enabler and apologist for crooked lawyers.

At the same time attorney E. J. Leizerman was pursuing a case before Judge LaBeau, he was also involved in a case pending before Judge William LaVoy in an adjoining courtroom. During this time, Judge LaVoy specifically found that Mr. Leizerman had submitted a materially false affidavit in his court and went on to sanction him for his misconduct. This fact was well known to Judge Michael LaBeau.

In less than one year, and pursuant to mandatory Michigan Court Rules, Judge LaBeau was forced to monetarily sanction attorney E. J. Leizerman on at least five (5) occasions for knowingly violating various Court Rules.

Shortly thereafter, E. J. Leizerman withdrew as counsel in both cases and was replaced by an attorney from Detroit who subsequently settled the case pending before Judge Michael LaBeau. In fact, Judge LaBeau personally approved the settlement which provided for $185,000 in attorney fees.

Two years later, attorney E. J. Leizerman had the chutzpah to file suit in Monroe County against his ex-client demanding attorney fees of well over $500,000 on a case he was forced to withdraw from due to his total lack of ethics and knowledge about Michigan No-Fault Laws.

Even though Judge LaBeau well knew that attorney E. J. Leizerman was found guilty of filing a false affidavit by Judge William LaVoy, was threatened with sanctions by a Federal Judge in Detroit for engaging in egregious misconduct involving the same case, and with the knowledge that he was forced to sanction Leizerman at least five times, he awarded Leizerman $70,000 in attorney fees.

At the time that Judge Michael LaBeau awarded Leizerman $70,000 in fees, he was aware that another attorney in Toledo claimed he was entitled to $500,000 in fees in the same matter and that he had just previously awarded another attorney $185,000 when the case was settled.

If Judge Michael LaBeau was an honest jurist which he clearly is not, he would have sent attorney E. J. Leizerman packing back to Toledo. However, Judge LaBeau was primarily concerned with protecting crooked attorneys by awarding them unjust and unconscionable fees. What a loser!
