Attorney Gary Jewett of Nova Scotia; Dumbo

The Nova Scotia Law Society presented Gary Jewett with a law license in 1979.

In one matter, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal ruled that Gary incompetently (moron) represented a man in a high-profile sex trial. Gary the Dumbo admitted to the following:

• Provided negligent advice that sexual assault required application of force
• Failed to advise client of possibly grave consequences of not testifying at trial
• Failed to question any witnesses at trial
• Failed to provide any evidence that client’s understanding of victim’s age
• Did not prepare himself or client for testimony

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Nova Scotia Law Disciplinary Board punished Gary by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
