Judge Eric Clifford of Paris, TX; lying loser

The state of Texas provided Eric with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from St. Mary’s University Law School.

The Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct found Eric guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Served on board of bank despite prohibition against so acting
  • Mishandled criminal defense attorney appointments
  • Conduct raised legitimate concerns about his impartiality
  • Told Kiwanis Club meeting that some people “need to be killed”
  • Made improper ex parte statements re: cases pending before him
  • Lacked candor during ethics investigation

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Eric by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (October 2015), Eric continues to sit as a Lamar County District Court judge in Paris, Texas.
