Attorney Omid Tofer of Beverly Hills, CA; ethical leprechaun

The state of California provided Omid Tofer with a law license in 2001 after he graduated from the University of LaVerne Law School in Woodland Hills, California.

The California State Bar Court found Omid guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Omid was hired to handle claims arising out of an automobile accident on behalf of two clients. Mercury Insurance valued the claims at $5,000 and $7,500, amounts that remained static, although Omid Tofer claimed but never proved that there were medical records that would impact the amount. Subsequently, Omid filed a lawsuit to preserve the statute of limitations.

Shortly after filing the lawsuit, Omid’s law clerk contacted Mercury and advised them that the mother’s health was deteriorating and they should consider offering a larger settlement. In truth, the mother had died earlier that day.

A month later, the law clerk again tried to extract a better offer, but Mercury resent its original offer of $5,000 and $7,500.

Several months later, Omid’s staff created a declaration for the woman’s daughter to sign stating she was with her mother in Omid’s office when her mother signed a release on June 27. In truth, the release wasn’t created until August 31.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished Omid by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year term of probation.

As we speak (ca. October 2015) Omid practices with Tofer & Associates PLC at 8889 West Olympic Blvd in Beverly Hills, California.
