BP Chairman: “We care about the small people”

After meeting with President Obama, BP Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg met with the press and said, “I hear comments sometimes that large oil companies are really companies that don’t care [Oh really Carl Baby?], but that is not the case in BP. We care about the small people.”

Carl was aptly skewered by the press for his insensitive comments that “we care about small people.” In a lame attempt at levity, several apologists/enablers for the oil industry had the chutzpah to excuse Carl’s comment by saying that English was his second language.

In an effort to be excruciatingly fair to BP Chairman Svanberg in regards to English being his second language, he may well have been misinterpreted when state “we can about small people.”

It may well be that Mr. Svanberg was making reference to the bantam and/or flyweights that are employed in executive positions at BP, which I’m sure would include BP CEO Tony Hayward.

Below are a few images of the smallish, petite folks at BP I believe that Carl was speaking of, including CEO Tony Hayward.
