► Attorney General Kathleen Kane (PA); Today’s Public Official Misfit

The state of Pennsylvania presented Kathleen with a law license in 2993 after she graduated from Temple University Law School.

Kathy is employed as an assistant Pennsylvania Attorney General. In early August 2015, she was indicted and charged with obstruction of justice and conspiracy involving confidential information she leaded about grand jury deliberations to the media and her subsequent attempt to cover up her actions.

Kathy’s leaking of grand jury deliberations was apparently an attempt to retaliate against former prosecutors who had previously embarrassed her. Kathy is also accused of giving false testimony (perjury) and obstruction of justice to avoid prosecution for her conduct.

District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said, “This investigation and the charges filed today show, beyond all doubt, that no one is above the law; not even the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the law.” (Theodore Schleifer, CNN)

As is the case with most indicted public officials, Kathy said she would not resign and then went on to say.

  • “I intend to defend myself vigorously against these charges."
  • "A resignation would be an admission of guilt and I'm not guilty.”

Of course it shouldn’t be long before Kathy cops a plea to the criminal charges in order to minimize or prevent the amount of time she will spend in the joint.

As we speak (ca. August 2015), Kathy continues to be employed as an assistant Pennsylvania Attorney General.
