Attorney Gary Close of Culpepper, VA; moronic loser

The state of Virginia presented Gary L. Close with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from William & Mary University Law School.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board found Donnie guilty of the following misconduct all of which took place while he was employed as Culpepper County Commonwealth’s Attorney (District Attorney).

Donnie’s misconduct involved testimony from a key witness in the murder conviction of Michael Hash. The witness was prison informant Paul Carter who testified against Hash with the expectation that he would get something in return, which he did in regards to a reduced sentence on federal drug charges.

During closing argument in the Hash trial, Donnie told the jury that there was no deal with Carter, which was obviously untrue.

In a lame effort at levity, Donnie laughingly claimed he was unaware of the deal made with Carter and the feds. This sham defense was basically treated with scorn by the ethics investigators.

As a result of Donnie’s prosecutorial misconduct, U.S. District Court Judge James Turk overturned Hash’s conviction, calling it “an extreme miscarriage of justice” due to police and prosecutorial misconduct. Hash was never retried and remains a free man.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Board punished Donnie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
