Attorney John Sullivan of Charleston, WV; serial offender

The state of West Virginia presented John P. Sullivan with a law license in 1995.

The Lawyer Disciplinary Board found Johnny guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as an assistant Kanawha County Public Defender.

  • Failed to respond to repeated calls from client
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours,, said Johnny!)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to explain matters to extent necessary for client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
  • Demonstrated a pattern of failing to communicate with clients

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Johnny’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received five (5) separate complimentary admonitions for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the West Virginia Supreme Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (cal July 2015), Johnny practices with the Public Defenders Corporation – 13th Judicial Circuit in Charleston, West Virginia.
