Attorney Natasha McDougall of Brooklyn, NY; shoplifter
The state of New York presented Natasha Maria McDougall with a law license in 2006 after she graduated from the City University of New York (CUNY) Law School.
The Grievance Committee for the Second, Eleventh, and Thirteenth Judicial Districts found Natasha guilty of the following misconduct.
While applying for her law license with the New York bar, Natasha found it acceptable to tell a bald-faced lie when she made a materially false statement on her application.
Natasha failed to disclose the fact that as a teenager she had been arrested for shoplifting. She was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property after she was caught attempting to shoplift clothing at Bloomingdale’s Manhattan store. When confronted by police she gave them a fake name and address.
After she graduated from law school and applied for admission to the state bar, Natasha answered “no” when asked if she had ever been “cited, arrested, taken into custody, charged with, indicted, convicted or tried, or pleaded guilty to” the commission of any felony or misdemeanor.
Natasha’s lie on her application regarding her shoplifting conviction wasn’t discovered until she applied for a court job in Brooklyn.
As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits and Liars sitting on the disciplinary panel punished Natasha by gifting her with a complimentary censure.
As we speak (ca. July 2015), Natasha is employed by the New York State Office of Court Administration at 330 Jay Street in Brooklyn, New York. |
