Attorney Cynthia Umstead of Birmingham, AL; ethical misfit

The state of Alabama presented Cynthia Hooks Umstead with a law license in 1988 after she graduated from the Birmingham School of Law.

The Alabama State Bar Association found Cynthia guilty of the following misconduct.

• Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law
• Failed to safeguard client funds

As a consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Alabama Supreme Court punished Cynthia by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.
