Attorney Michael Briggs of Oregon, WI; lying loser

The state of Wisconsin presented Michael J. Briggs with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Mike guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to file default judgment with register of deeds so as to clarify that title had reverted to his clients
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to respond to numerous client inquires
• Failed to timely respond to ethics grievance (Up yours, said Mike!)
• Made misrepresentations (lied) to ethics investigators
• Engaged in the illegal practice of law while license suspended

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. July 2015), Mike practices with the Briggs Law Office at 1519 Storytown Road in Oregon, Wisconsin.
